VES Manchester, welcomed Sam, a year 10 pupil from St Michael’s CE High School, Chorley, this week for his work experience.
Sam has spent time at our two Manchester based facilities, two days at our VES New Energies division helping out and getting involved with the mechanical engineers building panels and with our Chief Engineer and STEM ambassador Andrea who explained the various component parts and methodologies of the hydrogen pressure vessel leak detection solutions, whilst working on the systems.
Sam also enjoyed Andrea’s online introductory chat with VES’ R&D Director, John Watson, who is based in Michigan, United States. John, was very generous sharing with Sam, as he does with all work experience pupils, talking about his own life and work experiences.
Whilst at our Trafford Park facility, various staff and engineers explained and demonstrated what they do at VES, along with their skills, knowledge and experiences required for carrying out their roles and responsibilities.
No doubt Sam will carry this work experience, advice and memories through with him, help him gain confidence with adapting to a new situation and taking away some practical skills and a brief understanding of different work environments.
Special thanks to VES’ Andrea for coordinating his visit and for Curtis hosting Sam on the busy shop floor.
We wish Sam all the best for his journey ahead.
